Decisions, decisions -- the first Pokémon?

Post by Kanta on Fri Jul 02, 2010 7:50 pm

Amidst the sandy ground and the clumps of trees that you can find everywhere in Sandgem Town, among the smell of the salty air, the sweet tree sap and at certain times of the day, the beautiful smell of a home-cooked meal, you will find, nestled in the forested area, a beautiful tall and white building, which has all the tailing and expected majesty of a Pokémon Professor's Laboratory. The grounds around the lab are so well-kept you would expect the grass alone around this place is looked after by about seven people. The beautifully round shrubs and many a white pebble stone line entrance to this grand place. What lies inside, is something your heart desires most as a young trainer on a journey. Come inside and receive what's waiting for you...
Kanade was beginning to wonder where Barry got all of his strength from, as he rushed out of her sight into an important-looking building. "Hey," she puffed, "slow down..." and began jogging towards the building . Unfortunately Barry already had entered the building and seemed to have forgotten that Kanade was even following him in the first place. The girl was tired after trying to keep up with Barry, who from the moment she meant him, cannot stay still for more than a few minutes before dashing off somewhere. She stopped jogging completely and walked towards the building (while panting and trying to catch her breath at the same time).

Kanade slowly approached the building and read the sign on the door-- Professor Rowan's Laboratory.

Desperately in need of a breather, Kanade reaches the door to the most beautiful building she has laid eyes on since coming to Sinnoh. She looks up, still tired from the run from Twinleaf Town, and sees that the buidling does indeed belong to none other than the famous Professor Rowan, the notorious mastermind of evolution.

As she is about to knock on the door, the door smacks open in her face and Barry comes bolting out the door, landing square on Kanade's chest and knocking her straight to the ground. "Right, well this was a complete waste of time! Stupid Professor, he should be where he said he would be in yesterday's email! When I see him, I'm going to fine him $1,500,000!" Barry says, practically oblivious to the girl he was sitting on while yelling to the sky.

Kanade was known to be accident-prone, but this-- this was just ridiculous! Not only does she already have a small lump on her forehead, she was adding more injuries onto her face. (Well, at least her legs weren't as tired anymore and her breathing had returned to normal). Her eyes were scrunched, conveying her pain from being knocked on the ground for the second time today by the same person. She cracked open an eye, and saw that Barry was sitting on top of her (oh so that was what-- err that's who was on her). Instead of pushing him off, she simply watched him with amusement; he certainly was an interesting character...

The girl listened to Barry fuming about something about the professor, emails, and she could have sworn she heard something about another ridiculous fine. As Barry continued to shout even more insults at the sky (oblivious that he was crushing the girl underneath him), Kanade remembered that she was just smacked in the face by a door (and pretty hard too). Watching Barry was certainly distracting her from her throbbing nose though. She brought one of her hands up to her nose and rubbed it. No blood.

"Oh. Hey. Didn't see you there," the boy finally said to her. He looked at their current positions and flushed. "Err... sorry." In a blink of an eye, Barry got off of her and looked at the laboratory, facing away from Kanade. She pushed herself off the ground (standing up) and dusted herself off, acting as if nothing ever happened. He rubbed the back of his head nervously. "Ahem," he brought up a clenched fish to his mouth and cleared his throat. His face was slightly pink. Barry turned back to Kanade, but avoided her eyes. He mumbled something that sounded like another apology before saying, "W-we should look for Rowan."

Kanade cocked her head at Barry, wondering if he knew where to begin searching for the professor. She wasn't going to ask though. "Okay," the girl managed to reply. This boy was, without a doubt, the most interesting person she has ever met.

Barry looked down at the person he was sitting on, only having just noticed after his fuming rage that he was indeed sitting square on someone. "Oh. Hey. Didn't see you there," Barry said as he looked down. Suddenly, he realised it was that girl from before, the one who saw his mother yell at him. That combined with the fact that he was sitting in a position that quite rightly was a tad awkward forced his legs to move faster than they ever had before, and he practically sprung off her chest faster than a Munchlax at a Candy convention.

Once in a standing position, he promptly turned and faced away from her so as to hide his embarassment that was turning his jubilent face into a prune of a vibrant red colour. "Um...(crap) uh, sorry." He said again, his lip quivering somewhat. Trying to get over himself, he moved onto another topic "Um, yeah w-we should look for Rowan."

Kanade was hoping the boy knew where Rowan was at this point seeing as she was none the wiser to the situation, having not even been inside his Laboratory, and waited for his response. "Okay."

Barry, willing that she'd have said more, but noticing that she didn't seem to showing any signs of distress after what had just occured, began speaking. "The stupid assistant said that the Professsor had gone out early this morning to deal with something at Lake Verity. Thus, I suppose he's still there. Um... I'm.. going to race you, k?"

Kanade, willing to take up the challenge of proving she could match this guy asked him to wait just a second. She disppeared into the local PokéMart for a second and reappeared, her backpack considerably larger than it was before. With that, they took off towards the lake.

Proceed to Lake Verity (you may choose to skip Route 201, if you wish)
