Houndoom grins, but it seems to be a bit smarter this time, but waits even before Gnawty vanishes, but even with it's experience, it can't keep up with the Bidoof, grunting painfully as its Fire Fang misses, but Gnawty's attack does not. Regardless, it tries again, but Gnawty manages to dodge the attack, or so it thought, as Houndoom glows a bright brown, before its Counter sends Gnawty flying back painfully. Houndoom grins as Gnawty slowly stands up, but no one, but Dave seems to notice that a couple of the Houndour have vanished, just where did they go all of the sudden?

Dave blinked. Suddenly, there seemed to be a lot less Houndour about. Whoever, or whatever, had signalled for a distraction certainly wasn't messing about. Obviously some more time was needed.

"Great job Gnawty! Another pair of Quick Attacks now, let's keep it off balance!" he ordered, hoping his Bidoof would last against the powerful Fire-type.

Unfortunately, Gnawty wasn't as lucky this time, as he manages to fire and land one Quick Attack, but by then the Houndoom had had enough, and this time, a Dark Pulse slams into Gnawty before he could react. The Houndoom stares at Dave expectantly as he returns Gnawty, either not noticing or not caring that the rest of his pack was now gone. It's clear that the Houndoom was having fun, but just what would Dave do now? His helper has doing pretty well, but the fact was that things were going terribly overall, but it was just Houndoom and Dave... and either A'Tuin or Pix. Dave locked eyes with his helper, who seemed to motion that it needed a few more seconds.

just what would Dave do now?

"Well done Gnawty, return." Dave grimaced as another of his Pokémon was taken out of the fray. He couldn't beleive he thought they'd all get to Jubilife unscathed. Only two left, and there was no way he was sending little Pix in against that beast.

"A'Tuin, you're up!" and Dave's third Pokémon emerged. The Turtwig still looked battered from his earlier battle, but steadfastly prepared for battle.

"Sorry to do this to you buddy, but I need your help. Tackle before unleashing some Revenge!"

A'Tuin grins, but panting hard, doesn't have much left in him, but he still tries to Tackle, but finds himself in Houndoom's mouth, as the Fire Fang lands for heavy damage. Houndoom grins, but to his surprise, A'Tuin is still up, and smashes him heavily in Revenge, but as Houndoom slowly gets up, it falls back down, as a large tree branch falls on his head. Surprised, both you and A'Tuin recognize the Aipom you met earlier, who leads you away from the unconscious Houndoom as it takes you back to the main path, and very close to Jubilife City. However, After the city is in sight, Aipom doesn't seem to want to leave, it instead points to an empty PokéBall on Dave's belt....

so what should Dave do now?

Dave, A'Tuin and Pix all stared, open-mouthed, at the sight that had greeted them, with the Houndoom unconscious, and sure to have a massive headache the following morning. The perpetrator dropped down, prompting a gasp of recollection from both trainer and Turtwig. It was none other than the Aipom who'd had a go at them for stealing its Oran Berries near Lake Verity! Had it followed them all this way?

"Hey there, little guy! Boy, am I glad to see you!" Dave said, while A'Tuin sagged after the heat of battle. "Good job buddy, take a rest, return." Dave said, quickly recalling his tired Grass-type. The Aipom seemed happy to see him, and took his hand in his tail-hand, leading him back to the path.

A while later, and there it was! Jubilife City, lit up in the night sky. "Whew, thanks for that, Aipom." Dave sighed. "That was really helpful of you, thanks."

But the monkey didn't seem willing to go, instead pointing to one of Dave's empty PokéBalls. Blinking, the trainer looked back at the Aipom, who stared pleadingly back.

"So, wanna come along with us?" The creature nodded, prompting Dave to smile. "Haha, sure! That sounds awesome!" Aipom squeaked with joy, before Dave pressed a PokéBall up to it, which sucked the primate inside.

And as noted, Aipom doesn't fight at all, the ball clicking shut amazingly fast. Regardless, Dave was a bit happy as he walks into Jubilife City, even if most of his squad was pretty beaten, rest is all he wants at this moment, but things were looking up.

Gnawty and Zena each gained a level

Level 4 Female Aipom Caught! with attacks Scratch, Sand Attack, and Leer

you can now advance to Jubilife City

As Dave walked on toward the city, he released his new catch, the Aipom perching on his shoulder while he nestled Pix in his arms. The trainer smiled, as did the monkey, while he reached for his PokéDex, which would have to be suffering from overuse soon.

"Aipom: The Long Tail Pokémon. It lives high among the treetops. It can use its tail as freely and cleverly as its hands." Additional info showed that this Aipom was female, at Level Four, knowing Scratch, Tail Whip and Sand Attack, and had a Quirky nature, and had the ability to Run Away.

"Cool stuff. Welcome aboard... hmmm..." Dave thought of a name for his new Pokémon. Thinking of the stealthy ways she saved him from the Houndoom. "...Ninjia! That's it! How'd you like that?" A cheerful nod from the purple primate sealed it.

"Fantastic. Anyways, let's go get some rest." the trainer finished, and with his two Pokémon in hand, he set off into the city.
