Following it's trainer's strategic plan Pix readied itself for whatever Kero was going to throw at him. He lowered himself to the ground as much as he could and planted his feet firmly on the pontoon. Then suddenly without warning he was struck by a rather familiar move: Quick Attack. The tiny bird struck Pix and 'caused him to slide back slightly, though he still remained a safe distance away from the edge of the pontoon.

Pix then unplanted it's feet and tried jumping back and forth between two spots to limber itself up in preparation for a dodge order. Kero quickly rose up into the air with one powerful flap on it's wings. It then proceeded to circle around Pix's pontoon while he watched from below cautiously, never letting the bird out of his site. Eventually Kero decided to stop toying around with his opponent and promptly took a sharp turn, aiming his body downwards in a sort of kamikaze-style divebomb. As he flew downwards he gained speed rapidly which unfortunately is not really a good thing as almost as soon as he began his descent, Pix quickly changed locations on the pontoon, getting into an advantageous spot to prepare for his next attack. Kero tried to turn and change his direction but ended up failing a whole lot because he was going too fast. As he came within striking distance Pix executed his trainer's master plan, performing a Quick Attack he used Kero's momentum against him to increase the damage and overall success of his own attack. However, the angle of Kero's descent and his actual speed was too great for Pix to alter with just a quick attack. Instead, he sent the bird barreling headfirst into the pontoon, dealing some heavy damage and tiring Kero out quite a bit.

Kero took a lot of damage this time around, sending him very close to hitting the critical mark while Pix retains a healthy lead over his foe. Kero is also using up a ton of energy which is causing him to become fatigued quicker than Pix.

Alice gasped as she saw her Starly smash into the pontoon so harshly. She nearly jumped out of the trainers box like Dave did when his Cleffa was in trouble. With the battle being heavily in Dave's favor will he be able to pull out a win in this next round? Or will Alice make an EPIC comeback and utterly destroy Pix?

Pumping his fist as his strategy paid off, Dave cheered as Pix landed a solid blow, causing Kero to slam into the pontoon. It looked like it was almost over, but there was no time to get complacant - a battle isn't over until it's over.

"Alright Pix, you're looking great! Now Pound him hard! If you can still hit him, then Pound him again, but if he escapes, track and nail him with a Quick Attack! You can do it, little buddy!" he called, encouraging his Cleffa.

He knew Pix could pull it off, there was something special about that little baby, he could feel it.

"Kero quick! Fly off the pontoon as fast as you can! Then hit it with two more Quick Attacks"

Trying its best to follow the orders, the little Normal/Flying-type drags itself off the pontoon, only to get hit in the head with by the Pound of the Cleffa who was using the bird as a trampoline, and possibly slowly snapping a spleen in the process. Whether or not a Starly actually has a spleen is entirely another matter, because by the time the Normal-type had landed twice, Kero had just about had it completely. And flew off the pontoon, causing the little Starshape to land a little hard on the pontoon surface, making it tip a bit in the water.

The Starly, now free of the pontoon, wheeled around as fast as it could in order to deal a great Quick Attack on the little pink thing. To its surprise, a head-on collision with a Quick Attack of her own managed to concuss the poor bird, and that was that. Pix had managed to jump off the pontoon and smack her head directly into the head of the incoming Starly, after which she felt quite dazed. Falling very ungracefully to the surface of the water, they both landed with a small splash, but the swirls were only apparent in one set of eyes. Much to Alice's surprise and upset of course, it was the Cleffa who had managed to win out this time!

*Pix gains a level and is now level 4 and has learned the move Encore!*

Thweeeeeeeeett! goes the whistle that was hanging around the neck of the Teacher.

"And Kero is unable to battle! Dave and Pix are the winners! Boys and girls, I hope you have all been taking notes, since we haven't seen a trainer of the calibre that Dave is displaying for quite some time. So, now has anyone seen Lily?"

The children shake their heads, having not seen her all morning. Until suddenly the door opens and the Gallade steps inside this time, followed by a small girl. The Gallade motions to the teacher and the girl's face light's up like a tree at Christmas. She races over to her teacher and kneels.

"I'm sorry, Miss Tate, I had to help mum and dad at the farm this morning. I have a note as well."

Miss Tate took the note, read it quickly and nodded once. "God, You have arrived just in time. Dave here has managed to win twice today and his battle with you shall begin shortly." She turned to Dave, "And of course you have the time to go and rest your Pokémon if you wish to."

Dave's elation from the win quickly vanished. He was dumfounded - a kid? He was gonna battle one of the children from the class? He watched as the field in front of him was replaced with another field, this time a grass one, filled with a number of small trees and bushes. He also watched as Lily turned and began walking towards the Trainer box, throwing a PokéBall in her hand up and down, and smiling...

"Yes!" Dave called, as his opponent's Starly went limp, signalling that Pix had managed to fulfil his trainer's expectations. Dave looked up as there was a discussion at the side of the arena, while the tired little Cleffa made his way back to the trainer box, hopping back into his trainer's arms.

The would-be fisherman couldn't help but feeling a bit confused. He was gonna battle one of the kids? That seemed a bit harsh, but ah well. He was one battle away, and he wasn't going to let anything stop him. That caused him to pause. He didn't want to get cocky, like Alex. That could only end badly.

Looking around, he eyed the healing booth, before turning back to the room in general. "Er... excuse me a sec." he muttered, before dashing over to the nurse. Along the way, he looked down at the pink creature in his arms, smiling. "Great job, Pix. You were amazing, I'm so proud of you." he whispered, patting the Cleffa's head. Pix looked up, smiling in response.

As they reached the desk, Dave sat the baby down, before fishing out his PokéBall. Pix' eyes widened a bit, and he shook his head, looking like he was about to cry, but the trainer patted him on the head. "Shhh, it's ok, little one. I'll let you back out as soon as I can, I promise, alright?" That seemed to calm the Normal-type, and Dave recalled him, before handing the PokéBall to the Nurse.

"Here, could you heal my Cleffa this time? He really needs a good rest after working so hard." he enquired, handing the device over. As the Nurse worked her magic, he eyed the girl in the trainer box, wondering how to play against her. What Pokémon would she use?

Dave quickly made his way out of the trainers box and over to the healing station in the corner of the room while Lily contemplated her choices for this battle. While Dave dropped off Pix and began to make his way back to his respective trainer box Lily had made her decision.

"Sorry to have kept you waiting, now the real challenge begins! Go, Roselia! I choose you! Let's find out how good you really are, mister." Lily said as she threw out the PokéBall she had been holding. The orb sailed through the air before descending to the ground and smashing against the hard grass field. As it did it rebounded upwards and split open at the middle to reveal a brilliant flash of bright white light. The light was mesmerizing as it blinded and stunned everyone in the room, other than Lily whom stared directly into the light completely unaffected as she was probably used to it by now. The light as brilliant as it was quickly faded to reveal a red laser trailing out of the PokéBall. Said red laser hit the grassy field before beginning to take shape, slowly turning into an elegant looking Roselia. As the finer details came into focus and Lily's PokéBall shot back into her hand the Roselia took it's place on the field. It was rather hard too spot at first as it blended in quite nicely with the flowers, however it was easily distinguishable from the real flowers through careful examination.

"Don't think you'll take me down like you did those last two trainers mister!" Lily warned from across the arena, "I'm in a whole other league than those last two. It's time to bring your A-game!" Lily flashed a smile and a quick wink before crossing her arms and waiting for Dave to choose his Pokémon.

What will Dave do?

Dave hauled himself back into the trainer box, for what would hopefully by his final battle. Seeing the Grass field open beneath him, he thought that he might have a chance to give A'Tuin a battle, but his opponent's choice gave him a nagging doubt that it would be a good idea.

A beautiful Roselia took to the field, looking at home amid the flowers. Dave furrowed his brow, having not encountered the species so far on his journey. Sliding out his PokéDex for the first time in a while, he brought it up, scanning the new opponent. "Roselia: The Thorn Pokémon, the evolved form of Budew. The beautiful flowers on its arms have toxic thorns. Don't even think about picking those flowers."

"Eesh, I wasn't even considering it." he muttered, sweatdropping a bit. The evice confirmed his suspicions - the Pokémon was part Poison-type, a bad matchup for a Turtwig to go up against. This caused the trainer to ponder. Ninjia and Pix had both proved themselves useful, especially the former's nimbleness. Zena might be a good choice, if a little headstrong. However, there was one more... a good balance of speed and power...

Smiling slightly, Dave called back, "Oh, I wouldn't doubt it! But I think I have just the Pokémon to sort things out here! Gnawty, you're up, let's cut some flowers!" At this, he hurled a PokéBall forward, which burst open mid-flight. Bright light poured onto the battlefield, which quickly coalesced into the form of the tricksy, grinning Bidoof. The Plump Mouse looked around, getting his baring, before smirking at the sight of an opponent.

Meanwhile, in the box, Dave took the time to let Pix back out of his PokéBall, the baby hopping back into his arms, restored from his rest. "You did great out there, Pix. I'm so proud of you." Dave murmured as the Starshape Pokémon snuggled in, beaming. "But let's cheer our friend on now. Huh, just realised I've used all Normal-types so far. Strange." the trainer noted.

Turning his attention to the arena, he saw that Gnawty was gearing up to go. Dave smiled, his battle-hungry Bidoof wouldn't let him down, he knew it. "Alright Gnawty, let's win this thing! Growl to disorient it, then blast into a Quick Attack!" he ordered, hoping this would pay off.

"Don't back down, Roselia. Pin Missile it from afar, then Absorb back whatever health you lose!"

The battle looked promising as it started out, the student on the bleachers leaning in as their star pupil ordered her attacks. The lot of them grinned as they watched the Roselia hold up it's magnificent roses and extending the thorns that hid beneath them. The Bidoof known as Gnawty decided to start the battle off by trying to intimidate it's foe by letting out a terrifying Growl, however this didn't seem to unnerve Roselia in the slightest as it did an elegant spin towards it's foe while firing off a barrage of thorns from it's body. The Pin Missile attack glided through the air and struck Gnawty right in the face with grace and accuracy 'causing him to shriek in pain as the pins penetrated his skin rather easily and 'caused some good damage.

Angered and insulted by the Roselia's defiance Gnawty then prepared itself for a Quick Attack, launching itself forward with lightning fast speed to smack into the Roselia for some damage. It successfully made contact with the thorn Pokémon and sent it sliding back a bit while knocking it off balance, however it didn't look like it was in too much pain as it straightened itself out and began Absorbing back it's lost health and energy from this round. It concentrated hard on Gnawty and before long it was apparent that the Bidoof was beginning to feel like it's health and energy was being stolen away. A faint green light connecting the two Pokémon could even be seen if you looked hard enough.

With the initial round over Lily has shown some impressive battling skills, effectively dealing a good amount of damage to her foe while taking as little as possible and regaining it back with an Absorb. Health wise she is practically at full, while energy is feeling a bit more drained. Gnawty took some hefty damage putting him a good deal below his opponent while energy wise the two appear pretty even.

Lily smirked as her plan worked out perfectly. "Yay!" She cried, "Quickly use Poison Sting to poison it, then hit it with another Pin Missile!"

{OOC: Ah. Cheating, I see d: }

Dave gritted his teeth. Clearly, this was a very special Roselia, able to use techniques beyond the typical member of the species. Obviously, Gnawty's regular brand of brute-force would require a mite more finesse to bring home a win here. In his arms, Pix was cheering for his fellow Normal-type, even as the Bidoof took something of a beating.

As he watched for his opponent's next orders, Dave realised that he'd have to exploit them. Both would be a fairly concentrated stream of needle-like projectiles... Only one option presented itself.

"Right then, Gnawty! Put your speed to use, dance circles around her to avoid her attacks, before striking! A pair of Quick Attacks, if you please!" he called. Dave hoped that Gnawty would be able to evade the worst of the attacks, and knock the Roselia about a bit while he was at it.

Lily's Roselia proved to be a formidable opponent having learned a move not usually seen within it's species moveset. Being vigilant Dave pressed forward with new orders, hoping he could quickly turn the tide of the battle.

As Lily ordered her Roselia to perform a Poison Sting the thorn Pokémon rushed into battle with incredible speed. Gnawty was quicker however as he launched himself at his opponent with a Quick Attack that smashed into the Roselia hard sending her skidding backwards in pain as the large weight difference in the two 'mon proved advantageous for Dave and his Gnawty. Roselia albeit in some pain wasn't ready to back down as this time it opted for a ranged assault, launching some more Pins off of her body as if they were Missiles. Gnawty quickly rushed forward once again though this time it was headfirst into the needles. Being as light as they are Gnawty wasn't knocked back but did take some increased damage as the pins dug deeper into his skin as they would have had he been stationary. He finishes his Quick Attack, smacking into Lily's Roselia once again for some good damage while sending her further back towards her trainer. Lily frowned a bit as she noticed that she wasn't as successful this round as she was in the last, nevertheless she grinned happily as she noticed her Roselia still maintained the lead while she awaited Dave to open the next round.

Dave pumped his fist as Gnawty plowed on through the attacks, even though he told him to dodge them. Ah well, he was doing a fair amount of damage. But now he had to think up something. Something that could work. The Bidoof looked like he could use a break, even though he looked raring to go.

"Don't overexert yourself, Gnawty! Just focus on dodging this round. But if she tries Absorbing, then give her another Quick Attack for kicks!" he called. Hopefully this'd work, giving the Roselia pretty much nothing to do except waste energy. Hopefully.

Lily smirked as she devised a plan. "Alright then, fire off two widespread Pin Missiles! Let's see how far we can push this little Bidoof."

Lily's Roselia was a bit reluctant to start firing off a Pin Missile as it also heard Dave issue it's Pokémon's orders. However the plant had faith in it's trainers strategy and so Roselia began to do an elegant spin while exposing her sharp thorns that lay hidden under he flower-like appendages. As such the spinning motion resulted in a large amount of thorns to come flying off of her body and scatter around the field at Gnawty whom had a difficult time dodging such a bombardment. He managed to dodge the majority of the attack but ended up taking a few thorns here and there in his attempt. The Roselia noticed the Bidoof's breathing start to increase as the dodge was quite taxing on it's opponent 'causing the plant-like 'mon to grin as it realized it's trainers plan: Lily was using Dave's strategy against him. Not bothering to hide her thorns again, Roselia began another elegant spin, the result being more or less the same from the last time. The widespread Pin Missile proved rather difficult to dodge and so Gnawty ended up taking some thorns again, a few more than it did last time. The two attacks didn't 'cause him a ton of pain but the dodging was becoming taxing on him.

Good job, Roselia! Alright, fire off a Poison Sting this time then rush it with a Scratch attack!"

Gnawty wasn't looking too good as it appeared to be quite a bit more tired than it's foe, not to mention that Roselia still held a slight health advantage over him.

Will Dave be able to turn this around and into a win?

Dave watched Gnawty dodge the majority of the attacks, though he seemed to have exerted a large amount of energy to do so. Huh, didn't think that would happen. he mused to himself, though he was confident that having attacked twice, the Roselia should be worse off. Anyways, he had an opportunity here, and he wasn't going to waste it.

"Great job, Gnawty! Right, dodge and blast in with Quick Attack! Then, since I'm fairly sure Roselia can't learn Scratch, so just give her a big Tackle while she stands around looking confused!" he called, hoping this would pay off.

{OOC: Quick Attack should be ok to use as a dodging attack, right? Only it works in ASB, but didn't seem to work earlier. Also, Roselia can't use Scratch, I checked ;] }

(OOC: Ahh, Dave. You forget, this isn't the ASB. Moves like Scratch, Tackle, Headbutt, Growl and Bite are all generic moves that can be used by all Pokémon no matter what their level. As long as they have the required parts, that is. Also, I suppose Quick Attack could be ordered as a Dodge but here at Revo we accept a simple, "Dodge that," order as being completely legal and will work almost all the time, except for in certain circumstances of course. However, dodging is very taxing on the user and as such it can't easily keep dodging attacks one after the other without feeling the effects. As such, your Gnawty is currently feeling more tired than Roselia just because it's trying to dodge everything that's being thrown at it.)

Feeling confident with his Pokémon performance Dave pressed forward with an optimists attitude. As Roselia began to fire off some more thorns akin to her Pin Missile attack it was clear that these thorns were coated in Poison and as such a Sting from enough of them could prove very problematic for Dave and his Gnawty. With lightning fast reflexes Gnawty charged in, easily dodging the thorns and smashing Roselia right in the face for some light damage, sending her reeling backwards once again. Having managed to even up the health lead, Gnawty then charged in with a Tackle, looking to deal a bit more damage than usual to get a health lead. Under normal circumstances this plan would go well, but Roselia was a fierce opponent and as such she was extremely quick with her counter attack as she spun with her thorns exposed as Gnawty ran headlong into them. He was Scratched across the face pretty harshly, but he managed to take the plant down with ease as his clear weight advantage overpowered Roselia, smashing her into the ground for some good damage.

Dave managed to do more than just even things up, he actually took the lead in terms of health. Albeit a small one, it's the first time Gnawty has been above Roselia in terms of health. Both Pokémon were looking rather spent, and the battle was sure to go on a little while longer, but it was certainly tiring the both of them out.

{OOC: Ah, DTG, you forget that Gary said it here. Only Tackle, Bite, Tail Whip and Growl. Sorry, but yeah.}

In Dave's arms, Pix let out a cheer as Gnawty gave the problematic Roselia a great hit. The trainer was smiling a bit too, while trying to work out how to put this damn plant away once and for all. There's gotta be some way. he thought to himself.

"Alright man, let's do this! Use your massive teeth to Bite her hard! Then see if you can't throw her away and into something! End with another blazing Quick Attack, you can do this!" he ordered, remembering the way that Houndoom had tossed Zena and A'Tuin with Fire Fang. Hopefully a Bidoof could do the same to a little Roselia.

(OOC: My apologies. No offense to Gary, but I find it a bit silly that those moves aren't classified as generic. I mean, there's only a few 'mon who can't Scratch or Headbutt anyways, so I don't see why these moves couldn't be added to the list. Thanks for letting me know, I'll be more vigilant in the future.)

"Fire some more Pin Missiles into it's mouth as it comes in for the Bite attack, Roselia. Then dodge that Quick Attack as best you can!"

Gnawty began the round with a new found sense of pride and victory as it successfully overcame it's crafty opponent. He smirked evilly at the Roselia as his trainer issued him his commands before rushing off towards said opponent with his mouth wide open for a vicious Bite. The pudgy little Pokémon certainly looks like it could use a bit of a diet, or a salad as least as it charges forth noticeably slower than usual. Thankfully his opponent appears pretty tired too as she revelas her thorns once more before spinning around and firing off more Pin-like Missles. The pins hit Gnawty in the face for some good damage before the Roselia is chomped down on hard by the Bidoof's large and powerful teeth. This 'causes some immense pain for the plant-like Pokémon and results in it screaming out in pain as well as not quite being able to Dodge the next attack. As Gnawty let's his food down and out of his mouth he starts a Quick Attack which hits Roselia almost instantly as they're practically side-by-side, however what little damage the attack deals normally is reduced because there was less speed and momentum behind Gnawty's assault. The Roselia isn't sent reeling backwards as much this time either and instead she stands her ground quite well and fights through the pain that she's in, in order to survive.

Both 'mon took a bit of a beating, Roselia noticeably moreso. She's close to hitting critical now with Gnawty hot on her tail. Energy wise, Gnawty is more fatigued than Roselia by a lot.

"Uh oh! Looks like we're not doing too good, Roselia. Shoot some Poison Sting at him then Absorb some health and energy back. Hang in there, we can do this!"

{OOC: It's fair enough, I'd have done the same thing had I not been told}

Dave grinned as Gnawty was able to pull through this round, dealing a sizeable hit to his opponent. Roselia was looking beaten, but Gnawty was starting to look tired. In his arms, Pix was back to cheering, waving his little hands back and forth, causing Dave to chuckle. Hehe, you can't use Metronome just yet, little one. he thought to himself, before rturning his attention to the battle at hand.

"Alright Gnawty, you've got her on the ropes! You're a lot healthier than her, so Growl to offset that Poison Sting! She wants to Absorb? Let her absorb a full-on Tackle! That should break her link before it even starts! Finish by chowing down with another Bite, my friend!" he ordered, hoping that his would work out.

This would end either very well, with Gnawty sapping the last of Roselia's health, or very badly. Namely: Gnawty succumbing to exhaustion. Dave crossed his fingers, hoping for the former.

Re: Looks like it's back to school

Post by DTG6407 on Tue Oct 05, 2010 7:52 pm

It was clear was looking to end the battle right here and then as he ordered a tiring three-mover for his 'mon while Lily opted for a more safe approach as she attempted to use her Roselia's healing capabilities to catch up on a bit of health.

Her plan wasn't look to good as she readied herself to fired off some more Poison coated thorns from her body with the intentions of Stinging her opponent. Gnawty let out a horrible Growl in order to warn Roselia that she was about to get it, hard, if she fired off that attack. The Roselia's resolve didn't falter, more like stumble as she heard the Growl, however as she proceeded to spin herself in order to force the thorns on her body to fly off in a deadly barrage at her opponent. The thorns dug into Gnawty's skin and dealt some good damage while not poisoning him thankfully as Roselia's sloppy aiming made the majority of the thorns miss.

Gnawty felt a bit more energetic as he was given a bit of a break from his normal strenuous activity and thus he quickly rushed forward after taking the thorns for a fierce Tackle attack. The Roselia began to concentrate on her opponent in order to Absorb some much needed energy and health though unfortunately the only thing she ended up Absorbing was a full on Tackle from Gnawty whom plowed her over. She cringed in pain as the large Bidoof stood above her, flashing his large buck teeth. She had received no more orders, not that it would really matter as there's no real way she could force the much heavier Bidoof off of her anyways. All she could do was close her eyes as she watched the powerful jaws of Gnawty descend upon her. The resulting Bite attack dealt some pretty heavy damage, enough to put Roselia over the edge and knock her out.

The all familiar voice to Dave rang throughout the arena one final time:

"Roselia is unable to battle! Dave and Gnawty are the winners!"

Level up for Gnawty!

"Awwh!" Lily pouted from the other side of the arena. Her face drooped as she saw her Pokémon faint and as a result quickly returned it to it's PokéBall. "I'm sorry Roselia, I'll try to do better next time. You were great!" Lily said, snuggling her PokéBall tightly.

She quickly got out of her trainers box and made her way over to her teacher whom was standing by the sidelines. After a quick exchange of items Lily made her way over to where Dave was, handing him a small little disc.

"You were great too!" Lily complimented as she slowed her pace down and stopped in front of Dave. "Here's your prize, mister. It's the TM Hidden Power. It's a pretty awesome move! I hope it helps you wherever you may go." Lily finished, handing the small little disc over to Dave.

Dave received the TM Hidden Power!

"I gotta go now mister. I still have school, and lots to learn if I'm ever going to beat you someday. So you better watch out! I'll be coming for you." Lily gave a little wink before running back off to her teacher and fellow classmates all of whom returned upstairs through the strange looking door to their classroom.

Dave was on his feet, cheering, along with Pix in his arms, as Gnawty finall put Roselia to bed. He knew the little Bidoof could pull through, and here, he had. Aiming his PokéBall at him, Dave recalled the panting Normal-type, before smiling at it. "Great job, Gnawty, I'm so proud of you. Take a good rest now."

After a moment, Dave accepted his prize of a Hidden Power TM from Lily. "Thanks, little lady. I'll watch out for you too, that Roselia's strong. Take care!" he called, as the girl followed her classmates out of the room. Looking around, Dave put the TM in his pack, before walking over to the healing desk. Placing Gnawty's PokéBall on the desk, giving the nurse a familiar smile. A few seconds later, and he had all his 'mon again, and he and Pix walked out of the strange room, to whatever their adventure would take them next.
