When you have received your first Pokémon, you will end up returning here after Barry has challenged you to a match to test out your skills. You thought the fight against those Starly were easy? Well think again, Barry is on a whole new scale of difficult. "And if you're late, I'm going to fine you!" He yells.

You prepare yourself for the inevitable fight to happen early in the morning in the middle of the town. You know people will be watching and cheering on their favourites. This will be a match to remember!

As Dave entered the quiet town of Twinleaf, with Turtwig trotting at his heels, he started looking around. It wasn't too busy, so he should be easy to spot-- ah, there he was. Barry was leaning against one of the buildings in town. Dave gulped. This is it, he thought.

Kneeling down, he engaged Turtwig in a pep-talk. "Ok, we're gonna battle that guy over there. He's got a Chimchar, but so what? Types don't mean squat with your kind of strength! Shall we go and show him what-for?"

Thinking he has the upper hand, Dave walks calmly into the centre square of Twinleaf Town and finds Barry waiting for him. He throws his PokéBall up and down once or twice before releasing the Chimchar hidden inside it. "Char!" he yells, ready for the fight.

"Chimchar! We're gonna win this, or you'll have a hefty debt over you head, k?" Barry yells with confidence. "You think you can beat me then? Let's do this!"

Dave gets himself ready for the battle with Turtwig walking forward and scratching at the ground, eager to get this happening. "Turt, Turt, Turtwig!" He says knowingly to Dave.

"You bet we can beat you! Turtwig, lets do this!" Said Dave, looking confident as the little reptile pawed at the ground. "Tackle him hard, Turtwig, then Withdraw to bolster your defenses and take any hits!"

Dave was nervous at his first battle against another person, but knew Turtwig could do it. There was something about that little Grass-type, and even with a type-disadvantage, he was sure he could pull it off.

Turtiwg ran around and began his first move as Barry was yelling out his.

"Hey, Chimchar, don't take any of that, Leer him and then Scratch afterwards"

The Turtiwg suddenly sees the evil eyes from the Fire-type and is stopped in his tracks. He does, however remember to Withdraw and crouches in a fetal position before he gets Scratched across the face. Not really happy with his first round, Dave knew he could do better.

"Chimchar, lets go again, Leer and Scratch!" Barry cried.

Dave gritted his teeth as Turtwig's attack was stopped dead, though he was glad the tortoise evaded the worst of a hit.

"Let's do this, Turtwig. Withdraw to break eye contact and take the hit, then smack him right back with a Tackle!"

Simply said, the Turtwig broke eye contact by Withdrawing into his shell while the Chimchar was trying to Leer at him. This wasn't getting him anywhere and he raced to Scratch the Grass-type, raking him across his face again before he woke up to the fact that the Fire-type was attacking him and then proceeded to race forward with a Tackle, dealing more damage.

Dave jumped somewhat with the damage his Pokémon was doing to Barry's.

"Come on Turtwig! We can do this! Another Tackle, followed by a Withdraw should he attack. If he doesn't, plow into him with another Tackle! We'll show that chimp who's boss"

OOC: Dude, we're from the ASB if "if orders" weren't allowed, I'd hang my head.

"You think that's gonna stop me? Chimchar, dodge both his attacks!"

And with that, the little Fire-type did just that. Where the Grass-type tried to attack, the Chimchar dodged. Two Tackles later and the Turtwig still hadn't dealt any damage this time. The Chimchar grinned.

"Right then, Leer and Tackle! GO!" Barry cried.

Dave gritted his teeth again as Turtwig's attacks turned out to be in vain. However, he smiled confidently, his faith in his ward's strength bolstered by a mistake by his opponent.

"Keep it up, Turtwig! Withdraw again to block that Leer. Then, since Chimchar can't learn Tackle, hit him with your own Tackle! Keep it up, little dude!"

The little Turtwig did what he was told and Withdrew into a curled position as best he could once again and managed to avoid that horrible Leer attack. The Chimchar on the other hand, had other ideas and raked his claws across the back of the turtle's shell, not dealing as much damage as he would've liked, but enough to bring the Grass-type back to a standing position. Only he realises his downfall as the Turtwig smacks into the Fire-type with a Tackle attack and this time manages a critical hit! The Chimchar doesn't like this at all, and tries to stand, but can't revealing that he can no longer battle.

At this point, Barry pipes up in a disgusting tone. "There. Is. No. Way! You must've have cheated or something! Right that's it, I'm going to Professor Rowan and telling him how you were so mean to my Chimchar. You better be there when I do, or that fine from before will double!"
