Rad on Route 103

Rad looked around him, all he could see was much, much tall grass. He adjusted the position of his egg, and looked forward. "Two Pokémon should be safe enough, hmm...oh whatever, let's go." He sent out his new Kakuna, and grinned at it- Flamechic was already sitting on his shoulder. He stepped into Route 103...

The trio move on into the gressy knolls of Route 103, but before they really can get a good look at the area, they are interupted by another person. This girl, moves in and looks up and down on Rad, before noticing Flamechic on his shoulder.

"Hey, you- you've got one of my dad's Pokémon- I guess that he sent you here then. Either way, it's time to battle newbie, let's see what you've got. Wurmple, you're up first!"

As Rad is completely confused at the girl's appearance, it takes him a while to comprehend things, but with the Wurmple eagerly awaiting battle, there's little he can do. Other than fight that is..

"Huh, what?" Rad splutters, but the mysterious girl already sent out her Wurmple. "Oh, very well...Flamechic, battle stations. Growl and Flame Wheel."

May grins, before giving a command.

"Wurmple, String Shot while it Growls, then Poison Sting!"

Things aren't good at first, as Flamechic Growls aggressively, but Wurmple doesn't seem that bothered, as he launches a String Shot that slams into Flamechic, stringing him up, Wurmple grins, and as Torchic begins to move pulls on the string, but is disheartened to see that the fire burns away the string before Torchic can move, ruining its efforts and doing little to stop the Flame Wheel from slamming into it for heavy damage. Wurmple fires some Poison Stings in retaliation, but as Flamechic grimaces in pain, Rad notices a purple tint visible on Torchic's skin...

May grins as she continues.

"Alright Wurmple, you poisoned him, now on to stage two, start off with getting some altitude, then Tackle it!"

Looking at the two, you notice that Wurmple took quite a bit of damage from the bat, but seems to be more energetic that the poisoned Flamechic...
Rad watches as Wurmple uses its String Shot towards a branch, but Flamechic grimaces, if ready as it stares back at him. What will Rad do?

"Use your own Tackle when it tries to Tackle you! Then another Flame Wheel!"

While Torchic wasn't too familiar with Tackle, it's opponent was not, and guided with the momentum increase from the swing, Wurmple lands a surprisingly strong Tackle, easily knocking Torchic back, and pretty much winning the exchange of Tackles. Either way, Torchic launches another Flame Wheel, and while Wurmple manages to dodge some of it, it's clear who has the advantage at the moment, as Wurmple begins to grimace from the smell of burning grass...

Pretty much, Torchic took a heavy blow, but is still well ahead of Wurmple... Unfortunately, he's getting a bit tired as well, as while Wurmple is hurting, he's also much fresher...

What will Rad do?

"Scratch and Flame Wheel!", said Rad, heart pounding, after looking over the situation. Seconds later, he wondered if he had acted rashly...

"String Shot, then dodge that fire!"

May shouts as Torchic prepares a claw. However, before he can Scratch Wurmple, a String Shot wraps around one leg, and Wurmple tugs on it, tripping Torchic and dealing some damage. However, Torchic gets revenge by tugging on the string, and while Wurmple tries to dodge, the pull was too much, and while a large explosion occurs, Flamechic grins as the Flame Wheel slams into Wurmple for solid damage. Regardless, both are panting heavily, as the purple patch on Flamechic's skin had slowly grown, as both are looking pretty worn out. It seems that way, but Wurmple collapses, the fire just too much for it.

Level Up for Flamechic!

Things get interesting as May, noting the purple sploches, simply grins at Rad.

"Well then, your Torchic's looking pretty rough, but even if he wasn't my final one's got this in the bag, now Mudkip I need you!"

The blue mudfish appears as Torchic appears to look even sicker, just as May gives her orders.

"Mudkip, finish that thing off, Mud Slap, then Tackle it!"

"Oh, crap." muttered Rad as he saw the type disadvantage. He shrugged it off and said "Flame Wheel through that Mud Slap! Then meet that Tackle with a Scratch!"

Mudkip, being fresh was quick, easily slapping some Mud at Flamechic. However, it doesn't really matter. as Flamechic charges in with a Flame Wheel, and gets a partial blow from the attack. He turns to Scratch Mudkip painfully as the water type slams into him with a Tackle. However, as both get up, it's clear that the poison has nearly finished Flamechic off, as its exhausted. Either way May sums up the situation by calling out.

"Well then Rad, what are you going to do now?"

Mudkip grins, but still looks somewhat pained by the scratch on its face, even as Flamechic struggles to stand, the purple blotching looking even worse than the previous round...

Rad watches as Torchic seemed to be surrounded by an aura of fire energy. "This must be Blaze", he said in awe. He had heard of the common starters having this ability, but had never seen it in action. "Anyway, Flamechic! Flame Wheel twice, you did good now!"

May doesn't say a word, other than ordering quietly.

"Well Mudkip. show that thing what you can do, Double Edge it, then finish it with a Water Gun.

Flamechic either did not, or chose not to hear as he vailiantly charges forward, the Blaze increasing the heat of its Flame Wheel immensely, but as the Double Edge collides, a large explosion rings, and the valiant Pokémon falls. As Mudkip grins eagerly... Flamechic is clearly unable to battle. However, to everyone's surprise, he gets up and flares up again. However, Mudkip ends all question by blasting him into a tree with one final Water Gun. Rad returns Torchic, a bit glad that the purple blotches had vanished, but seeing his starter so beaten was an issue, but at any rate what would he do?

"Indeed." Rad grinned as he returned Torchic. "Take a long rest pal, this gonna be good." He addressed the girl and said "I have one more Pokémon." Grinning, he sent out his Kakuna. "Now! String Shot into Poison Sting!"

May grimaces at the Kakuna, and she seems to sense something as she orders.

"Alright Mudkip, dodge that string, then Water Gun!"

Kakuna grins before launching some string. However, it isn't successful, as the strands are easily avoided by Mudkip, but it seems to have a different purpose. Either way, Kakuna, grinning at the fact that its opponent's running room was very reduced, launches a Poison Sting at Mudkip. However, similarly the move is reflected in a way as a Water Gun slams into it. However, the moves simply cancel out, as Kakuna simply stares at his opponent.

It seems that while neither one took any damage, Kakuna doesn't seem to be that worried or injured, rather, it looks very calm, collected and fresh, as its opponent seems to be showing signs of fatigue, but still going strong, if a bit unnerved.

May isn't too pleased, but she still isn't too worried as she continues her attack.

"Alright then Mudkip, I'm not sure what it's up to, but start by getting in close. Mud Slap to distract it, then Double Edge it, quickly!"

the Mudfish grins as it prepares to launch some mud at his opponent, but as Kakuna looks on confidently, what exactly will Rad do?

"Indeed. Let's put our plan into action. Take the Mud Slap, then wait for the right time and String Shot it. Once done, surround it with String Shot, please."

Kakuna doesn't seem to mind the dirt flying towards it, but at any rate, he takes his time to close his eyes, so it doesn't affect his vision. But from its own standpoint, Kakuna doesn't waste much time in launching a String Shot as Mudkip goes in for another Double Edge. Unfortunately... it doesn't work just yet, as the String slams into Mudkip's legs, but it doesn't have enough time for Kakuna to control Mudkip's direction, and the cocoon takes a heavy blow. but in retaliation, he surrounds the water type with even more string, irritating May to no end, as Mudkip tries to avoid the strands... At any rate, Kakuna's hurting but is in a solid position as Mudkip seems a bit wary of the string and looking pretty tired

... what will Rad do?

At any rate, Kakuna was ready to go, and while May had shouted some orders to her Mudkip, he really hadn't heard, as he launches a barrage of Poison Stings at Mudkip, which bowl him over, dealing a painful blow, but nothing too serious. However, as he slowly gets up, he can only Growl weakly, as he then charges at Kakuna again. This time, Kakuna heard the order loud and clear...

"Mudkip, TACKLE!"

and while he was ready, he could tell that his opponent was fading, and even with the various amount of string shot on the water type, it was easy for Kakuna to latch yet another String Shot onto his opponent, and with surprising agility, leaps over him, much to everyone's shock. At any rate, this change in momentum sends Mudkip flying, and though the effort exhausts him, Kakuna sends Mudkip into a tree. Combined with the poison in his system, this painful blow simply knocks the fight out of Mudkip, and as he falls limp, May grimaces angrily.

"Well then, I suppose you win then."

She looks visibly pissed, but at any rate she hands you a TM before stomping off to Oldale Town, which based on the shape of Kakuna, wouldn't be such a bad idea for Rad either.
