When you have received your first Pokémon, you will end up returning here after Barry has challenged you to a match to test out your skills. You thought the fight against those Starly were easy? Well think again, Barry is on a whole new scale of difficult. "And if you're late, I'm going to fine you!" He yells.

You prepare yourself for the inevitable fight to happen early in the morning in the middle of the town. You know people will be watching and cheering on their favourites. This will be a match to remember!

Now that Sal was back in Twinleaf Town, he simply had to look for his rival, Barry, somewhere amongst the thin crowd. He and Chimchar looked around the pleasant town, taking in the sights as they looked around for the rather hasty yet likable individual. Fortunately, since Twinleaf Town isn’t too big, it didn’t take very long to find Barry at all.

“Hey, Barry!” Sal said, as he ran over to the boy once again, hoping he’d be able to direct them back to Sandgem Town.

"oh, it's you- what did you catch that Gilgar up there or something, why were you following it? anyway, it's time for us to battle, and it's clear that my Chimchar is far stronger than yours, so let's see what you're made of Sal- I challenge you, Chimchar let's go!"

and as everything seems to slow down, Barry's Chimchar grins as it gets into a battle pose, as Chimchar leaps down from Sal's shoulder. What will he do next?

OOC: Something that just came to me, did Chimchar gain a level for defeating that Starly before?

Barry was once again acting rashly, and challenged Sal to a battle. Sal looked down to Chimchar, who seemed more than happy to battle, so Sal simply accepted the fact that they were going to battle.

“Ok then Barry, let’s battle. Chimchar, Leer it down, then Scratch it!” Sal said, now perfectly ready to begin the battle.

(OOC: yes, I forgot that)

"Ha, Chimchar, you do the same! Barry cries out"

Things are interesting as both fire monkeys stare each other down, before they charge each other and Scratch each other painfully. However, as they both fly back, they seem to be equally matched, even as Barry continues.

"Now then, Chimchar, Scratch twice, let's go!"

Barry's Chimchar charges Sal's but there's still some time- what will Sal do now?

With Chimchar trying its hardest, Sal tried to think on his feet, and he came up with something that he felt might just work.

"Chimchar, dodge the first Scratch, then retaliate with your own Scratch while it's off balance!"

This match continues to be a mirror match, except Sal's Chimchar easily dodges Barry's Chimchar's first Scratch, but the monkey is a bit larger, and surprisingly quick, so the second Scratch trade off with each other, both Chimchar similarly injured. Either way, Sal's Chimchar is a bit more energetic, but you really cannot tell the difference between the two... what will Sal do now?

With both rounds ending just as Sal expected, he decided to speed things up a little. He turned to Chimchar again.

“Double Scratch, my friend!”

"Leer, then your own Scratch"

...Things get stupid, as the larger Chimchar stops the smaller one with a Leer, and then Scratches it. The smaller Chimchar then Scratches the larger one back. Things get a bit repetitive, but the breathing gets a bit harder from both Pokémon.

"Alright, this is getting stupid, Chimchar, Tackle, then Leer it down"

Barry quickly orders, but as this ditto battle moves on, it's getting kind of silly, just what will Sal do now?

The battle seemed to be becoming repetitive and predictable, and Barry had started changing up his strategy, so Sal decided to do the same.

"Ok, Tackle it right back, then Scratch when you can free yourself from his gaze!" Sal said, now wanting to finish the battle ASAP.

Things start again, but as the monkeys fly back again, a crowd begins to develop, even before things get exciting, but they are a bit confused at the fact that one Chimchar is Leering down another, and Sal's Chimchar just can't break the gaze in time as the round ends again, so what should Sal do now?

"Ok Chimchar, let's try to end this! Create an opening with Leer, then put all your strength into another Scratch!" Sal said, now really eager to win.

"Leer, then another Scratch...um, Sal this is getting stupid though, hah"

Barry orders, but as the Chimchar continue to stare at each other, until finally Barry's Chimchar breaks through and tries to Scratch. However, Sal's Chimchar dodges and lands a powerful Scratch, which sends her opponent flying, and some cheers from the crowd, but as the crowd gets more excited, the thing is that Barry's Chimchar wasn't giving up yet...

what will Sal do now?

"Yeah, it's getting a little stupid, I agree, but damn, this Chimchar certainly is tough," Sal said, as he observed just how much stronger this Pokémon was than the Starly.

"Leer once more, then Scratch again!"

"Finish it with 2 more scratches Chimchar!"

Things get interesting, and the fact is that this time, Leer sticks for Chimchar, and she manages to stop Barry's Chimchar in his tracks. Finally, she seals the deal as the two Scratch each other, but while Barry's Chimchar collapses, Sal's remains standing, panting heavily, but still concious.

Level Up for Chimchar

the small crowd of passerby cheer as Barry picks up his Chimchar, but he doesn't say anything until they leave, before finally turning to Sal.

"Hm, seems that you've won again- but the thing is, that you won't beat me again- I think that Professor Rowan wanted us to go to his lab for something, but regardless it shouldn't be that bad. anyway, see you around."

and with that, Barry returns Chimchar and goes on his way. However, to Sal this doesn't matter, but Chimchar is a bit tired- you're also curious as to what Professor Rowan wants... and you take off into the route again.
