Marion's Training Session

Nincada leaps forward, and Scratches Ralts once, sending the Psychic back, but a strong Confusion sends the bug back, and the next Scratch is hindered by multiple Will-o Wisps that slam into the bug as it fights forward. However, Marion is startled to see a red and white ball slam into his leg. and a shout from Professor Birch.

"Marion, Ralts is weak enough, quickly throw the PokéBall at it!"

It was up to Marion's choice now- Nincada and Ralts looked both weak, so he'd need to end this fast- what will he do now?

Marion was about to call his next order when he could feel something hit his right leg. He looked down at his feet and stooped down to pick up the PokéBall. It gleamed in the sun, and Marion could almost make out his own reflection in it.

He knew, of course, what a PokéBall was. On his travels he had seen many people use them, and he figured that all he would have to do is hit the Ralts with it, and then the Pokémon would be his.

Did he need two Pokémon? He reasoned that the more he had, the better off he would be.

Interrupting his thoughts was a cry from his Nincada; she had taken some harsh damage and didn't look as though she could take much more of this battle. He knew he would have to bring the battle to a close before his Pokémon fainted of exhaustion.

He gripped the ball firmly, then hurled it straight for the Psychic-type.

Things moved in slow motion as the ball flies at Ralts. The psychic simply grunts in resignation, as the ball slams into it, absorbing it inside. Regardless of this resignation, the ball still shakes quite a bit before it finally stills itself.
Congratulations! Marion has captured a Level 5 Female Ralts with the attacks of Confusion, Will-o Wisp and Growl!

Birch walks up to Marion, and excitedly exclaims.

"That was excellent Marion, and congratulations on your catch! Sorry for not helping, I'd forgot to heal whismur. At any rate, you've proven yourself ready to go and at any rate here's six more PokéBalls and a check for 2000 PokéDollars that every trainer gets. Now I'm excited and am glad to know you are so capable- but Oldale town is a few minutes away- you should hurry there to heal your Pokémon.

As the PokéBall clicked and settled, a grin broke out on Marion's face. He had caught a second Pokémon! He first returned his attention to his Nincada, who was smiling weakly at him from a few feet away.

"That was an excellent job, Nincada!" he said, stooping down to stroke the Bug-type's back. "I know you're tired out, so why don't you take a breather until we reach the Pokémon Center?"

Marion unclipped Nincada's PokéBall from his belt and returned her in a flash of red. Finally he made his way over to the second PokéBall resting on the ground.

"Thanks a lot for the lesson, Professor," he said, bending down to retrieve the ball. "I really learned a lot!"

He clipped the newest PokéBall on his belt and waved goodbye to Professor Birch, walking down Route 101 headed for Oldale Town.
