And so the adventure begi-- wait, who's that?

A'Tuin eagerly eats the Oran Berry, and looks a bit healthier, but at any rate he's still slow to move, as he's startled by another Quick Attack, landing hard on the ground as Bidoof prepares to charge again. His health is better, but he's still a little tired, and that hit didn't help. A'Tuin is raring to go, but he does take a step back as Bidoof Growls, then charges forward in another Tackle.

What will Dave do now?

Dave grinned, with A'Tuin most definatly back in this battle, it was sure to be a victory. "Great job man, now Withdraw again to take that hit, before responding with another Tackle, show it who's boss!"

Things don't go well, as A'Tuin is launched into the air by Bidoof's latest assault, but the issue was that while he took less damage, he was airborne. Regardless, as he slams into the ground, he simply continues onwards with a Tackle, but Bidoof vanishes again, and smashes A'Tuin with another Quick Attack. What was even worse was that it was a critical hit and A'Tuin collapses, unconcious. Bidoof slowly turns to you and Pix, grinning as A'Tuin simply isn't moving, as exhausted as he was. However, it seems that BIdoof is pretty weak as well at this point, but is still going to fight for a little more.

What will Dave do now?

{OOC: out of interest, did A'Tuin get a level from the battle with Shinx? Just cos I've seen that happen in Johto. Also, is this Bidoof capturable?}

Dave grimaced at A'Tuin's collapse, before holding up his starter's PokéBall, recalling him. "Great job, A'Tuin, now time for a rest. Return." The Turtwig was converted into energy, and sucked back into the device.

With A'Tuin and his new Shinx having no fight left in them, Dave's sole hope rested with the little Cleffa in his arms. "Alright Pix, it's all up to you now. Time for your first battle!" The baby seemed apprehensive, but soon turned confidant, marching into battle against the Bidoof.

"Alright Pix, you can do this! Charm that big guy down, before launching in for a Pound""

(OOC, you'll see and yes Bidoof is catchable)

and a bit nervous, Pix simply leaps for battle. Bidoof can only grin, until it notices Pix's eyes. The brute seems to soften, and while it vanishes for a Quick Attack, it was much weaker than the one that it has slammed A'Tuin with, and he really doesn't do much to stop Pix from Pounding him hard. It seems that everything looks alright, but Bidoof simply seems to be injured, but even now seems to be thinking about something. Pix can still fight but that last hit was painful, even with the Charm, he's still raring to go however.

Dave winced as his hatchling took a nasty hit. He fumbled at his belt, readying a PokéBall - this Bidoof was a keeper, that's for sure.

"Great job Pix! Charm him again, before delivering another Pound! Keep him busy!" Dave commanded, watching on as he enlarged the device in his hand.

Pix starts another Charm, but Bidoof was having none of it this time, refusing to look at the baby as he charges with a Tackle. This proves to be his undoing, as he misses Pix, and gives him a chance to charge with a Pound. Bidoof recovers however, and charges with a Tackle. However, as both fly back, Bidoof is slow to rise, as Pix is already on his feet. This battle looks to be over, so what will Dave do now?

Grinning at the tiredness the critter was showing, Dave brought up the PokéBall. "You think you're getting away with all that? Not a chance man, you're mine! PokéBall, let fly!"

And with that cry, the trainer threw the orb at the Bidoof, hopeful as it sailed toward it.

things go a bit slowly as the PokéBall clicks on the sadistic Bidoof, but it didn't matter, he didn't fight the PokéBall as it clicks on him, and faster than you would have thought, Bidoof relaxes into his ball. Regardless, Dave collapses in relief, and as Dawn quickly runs over, it's clear that all of you need a Pokémon Center visit after the stress you had to go through just now.

you can warp to Sandgem to heal if you wish.

Having had a good rest, Dave returned to the route where he had fainted embarrasingly earlier. Looking around, he figured that he should get his newest Pokémon out of their confines, and released Shinx and Bidoof from their Balls. The two blinked in the light, with Shinx looking standoffish, and Bidoof looking to go on the attack.

"Oi! You two, knock it off!" Dave scolded, nudging Bidoof with his foot. The Pokémon looked somewhat abashed at this, quickly simmering down. "Right then, let's have a look." he muttered, swishing out the PokéDex once more. Scanning the Shinx, he got the entry from before, with the image lit up to show capture. It also showed she was Female, had the Intimidate ability, and knew Tackle. And had a Serious nature. "That's a shock." he mumbled sarcastically.

Turning the device to Bidoof, the machine bleeped, before sound issued forth: "Bidoof: The Plump Mouse Pokémon. It lives in groups by the water. It chews up boulders and trees around its nest with its incisors." it whirred. Another lit image showed up, as well as the data that this particular specimen was Male, knew Tackle and Growl, as well as the unique move Quick Attack, and had the ability to be Simple. His nature was Naughty.

"Huh, interesting. Well then... Zena," he said, addressing the Shinx, "aaaaand... Gnawty." he said, naming the Bidoof. The two looked at each other, before looking pleased with their new names. "Welcome to the team, guys! Now let's see what's out there, shall we?" Dave said, entusiastically, before walking back along the route, the two Pokémon trotting alongside.

While there wasn't really a lot of issues, the fact was that Dave didn't have far to go before he was interuppted by a smaller boy who quickly ran up to him and shouted.

"MY Pokémon IS BETTER THAN YOURS! MY NAME IS TIMMY AND I CHALLENGE YOU TO A BATTLE! NOW STARLY I CHOOSE YOU!"

As this extremely loud kid reveals his Pokémon, he grins eagerly. What will Dave do?

(Oh yeah, forgot to mention that A'Tuin and Pix both get a level from last update)

Dave cringed a bit as the newcomer shouted his challenge, before the boy released a Starly in a flash of light.

"Jeez kid, who do you think you are, Brian Blessed?" he asked, rubbing his ears. "But sure, I accept your challenge, need some battling done. Zena, let's do this."

The Shinx padded forward, growling somewhat as she prepared for battle, arching her back. "Ok missy, you might not have any Electric attacks, but that's not gonna stop us bringing the pain! Double Tackle, on the double!"

"I'm not sure who that guy is, but anyway, Starly meet that thing with a couple of Tackles, quickly now!"

And pretty much, things are a bit interesting as Starly and Zena collide a couple of times in a row, but as Zena seems to be ahead, the kid gets a bit anxious.

"Starly, quickly, Growl her before you do another Tackle, you can do it if you hurry!"

At any rate, Starly is raring to go, and Xena is a little better off, but she isn't having any issues at all...

What will Dave do now?

Dave smirked, although on paper he had a type-advantage, it was all down to Tackles. "Zena, let's do this! Wait till the effect of the Growl wears off, before Tackling him right back! Then another Tackle will be on the cards."

Confidant in his Pokémon's abilities, Dave just waited for the action to unfold.

Shinx wasn't really concerned from the angry Growl Starly gives it, nor does she care that much, meeting the bird with another Tackle. However, this time she wins out, and even Tackles the bird into a tree. Starly looks pretty worn out, but it slowly flutters into the air as things continue on, but while Shinx looks fine, Starly looks near death already, what will Dave do now?

Dave pumped his fist in the air at Zena's great performance. He knew this Shinx was something special, and she sure was proving it.

"Great job, Zena! You're looking fantastic! Tackle him again, and then do it again if you have to!"

Regardless, Zena charges into the boy's Starly before it could respond, and this time, the Tackle takes him out for good this time.

Level Up for Zena

However, the boy begins to tear up before shaking his head in anger.

"No, big boys don't cry, and I still have another Pokémon! Kricketot, I need you now!"

As a strange bug appears, Dave isnt' sure exactly of what it is, only that it seems to be a bit stronger than the Starly had been... what will he do now?

Dave pumped the air with his fist, happy that his new Shinx had done her job greatly. Observing his opponent switching, Dave decided to try out his other new catch.

"Alright Zena, fantastic job, take a rest for now." he said, as the Electric-type padded back over to her trainer, panting a bit. Dave patted her head, before turning to the Pokémon on his right. "Gnawty, get out there, bring some pain."

The Bidoof nodded, before jumping toward the new foe, whom Dave scanned with his PokéDex.

"Kricketot: The Cricket Pokémon. Its legs are short. Whenever it stumbles, its stiff antennae clack with a xylophone-like sound. " the machine announced. Dave tucked it back in his pocket, before readying for battle once more.

"Alright man, let's start off strong! Intimidate it with a Growl, then get up close and personal with a Quick Attack!"

"Counter with your own Growl, then Tackle!"

The kid seemed a bit confident, even as the two couldn't hear much, the Growls simply drowning each other our. However, Gnawty had the speed advantage, and easily dancing around the Kricketot with the Quick Attack, slams into him for a heavy hit. Either way both Pokémon are standing tall, even as the kid continues.

"Alright Kricketot, more Tackles, as quick as you can!"

what can Dave do now?

Dave had to blink, his Bidoof travelling to fast to see without his eyes feeling funny. That Kricketot looked strong, but Gnawty had a huge advantage, in both his relative size, along with his speed.

"Great job, Gnawty. You're way faster than that thing. Just intercept it and knock it back, with two Quick Attacks!"

Simply, things seemed to repeat themselves, as Bidoof easily dances circles around Kricketot with its QUick Attack, before slamming into him with the attack. However, Kricketot is quick, and knocks him out of the second Quick Attack before Gnawty could get started at all. The Bidoof glares as it spins along the ground, but quickly picks itself back up, if a bit angrier from the attacks it had to endure.

What will Dave do now?

Watching his Pokémon take a hit, Dave seemed to connect with Gnawty's frustration as he was knocked out a second attack. Dave thought, trying to pick a strategy, but it just seemed like more attacking was needed.

"Alright Gnawty, you're looking good! Growl him down, before Tackleng him hard!"

"Bide Kricketot"

Was all that the kid ordered, and grins as his Pokémon glows brightly, as the Growl doesn't do much if anything, and Gnawty's Tackle does some damage, but the glow still is around.

"Hahaha, this is great, Kricketot, keep up that bide for as long as you can!"

Things don't look good, that Bide is apt to go off at any second... what will Dave do now?

Dave was somewhat worried at this, knowing Bide was a nasty tactic. Only one way to act.

"Alright Gnawty, that Bide means trouble. So just be ready to dodge the resulting beam with a Quick Attack." the trainer said, hoping that this would pay off.

Dave is a bit surprised to see the kid laugh, but as they wait, the kid finally reveals his secret.

"So, let's see you dodge this, no Pokémon's ever dodged my Pokémon's Bide Beam!"

And for once, the kid was right, as the energy releases far faster than Gnawty could react, and it slams into him for a powerful blow. It was lucky that Gnawty hadn't dealt more damage, but Kricketot looks a bit tired.

"Don't quit Kricketot, Growl him, then another Tackle, HURRY!"

Kricketot begins to move again, and Dave does not have a lot of time... what will he do now?
